If I remember right there are 6 weights. They are quite light, just some small open rollers coated with a teflon type material. You are correct in that it is very similar to the Snowmachine clutches.

dont have the pics but here is a link to the pics tranny trick
thanks to fango for having them available. I did it to mine before the clutch kit, seemed to help out but a clutch kit works much better.

I forgot to check the Polaris tab when I searched and found this thread.
I don't think this mod was for my style of clutch.

Default Here's the AutoClutch Mod

Guys it really does work my 02 500i was done two summers ago and it really woke up the low end and I still get about 50mph on the top.
It really pulls wheelies if you have a slight bump to help the front to get light.
also tons of power to plow snow.
