In looking at the specs on the new 500i model it claims to have a 2.5 inch wider stance. The models that are not "i" have the same as the 2001. Is the "i" model actually wider or are they measuring at a different spot due to the true IRS?

Any answers?

For 10" of suspension travel you have to make the a-arms/cv's longer. If they were not long enough they would bind up the cv's and break them. The wider stance also helps overcome the tippyness that probaly came with the 12" of ground clearance.
