When i ride my left leg burns up if i wear shorts!I mean its hot enuff already and then that pipe for the muffler is producing so much heat it kills my left leg...Does anyone know of anything you can do to reduce the heat. Something cheap is what i want, i found some heat sheld stuff(shiny kinda metal) but its really expensive. Also does anyone have a proublm with like the mud sticking to the pipe...i know it started out black i think and now it is red like the mud we ride in.

I used to run high octane fuel in a quad I had and it would run really high exhaust temps it would get so hot it would try to melt the plastic above it. I tried heat shields from the dennis kirk catalog they helped some but not a lot so I bought a roll of Fiberglass Cloth and wrapped it around the pipe thick and clamped it with hose clamps it wasn,t pretty but it was under the plastic so no one could see it . It worked very well strangly the machine seemed to run better to. It may have just seemed that way because it was more comfortable to ride.

weeeelll you shouldn't really ride without at least a decent pair of jeans on, riding with shorts on is just asking for trouble. Safety gear is a must...its people who don't wear it that give our sport a bad name. At least wear a pair of jeans, helmet, goggles, gloves, and a decent pair of heavy shoes or boots on your feet. just a hint from someone who has been there and done that...gear is a MUST!

Mindz; You,re gonna laugh at this I bought the Fiberglass at Wal-mart Where the Bondo and car paint are in the automative section there are two types of the cloth. I got the thicker woven material. It is inexpensive. A little awkward to work with at first but it really made a diffrence sort of reminded me of Header wrap that you see on race cars only header wrapping is expensive.

As if there weren't enough people bitching about stuff here, now we have the fashion police as well. I ride with jeans most of the time, but thats because I hate limbs scraping on my legs. It has nothing to do with safety. I have enough sense to get out of the rain and definitely enough to keep from killing myself on a quad. If I'm riding alone, you can bet I wont have on any recommended goggles eiter. If I poke an eye out mysteriously, then you can come to Arkansas and laugh in my face for free. I'll even pay the airfare. There isn't anything wrong with wearing shorts. My aunt wore them today. As for her thoughts on certain safety measures, well, she was a passenger!
