do any of you know how the titan 589s perform on hard soil? i'm thinking of upgrading from the stock 489s but i don't want to lose any positive handling characteristics. if i do upgrade will i need a lift kit? i really do not want one but if i need one i may just stick with the 489s until they are slick.

any recommendations on other tires are welcome as well.

i would rather keep the 25x10x12 size though to prevent rubbing on the fender plastic.

thanks,

From what I know, I think that they have the 589's in the same size as the 489's. Go to Highlifter.com and they have the differant sizes at that site.
Thanks

I HAVE THE 589 M/S,27 INCH AND THINK THEY ARE GREAT.THEY WILL FENDER RUB IF YOU COMPRESS THE SUSPENSION TO MUCH,BUT FOR FIRE ROAD TYPE RIDING THEY ARE VERY GOOD.IN MY EXPERANCE,THEY MAY BE THE BEST ALL ROUND TIRE OUT THERE.

Yeah mine are also fine for hard pack (27x11x12 front and rear), mine too hit the fender under hard riding, deep ruts, no problems yet, I have about 1100 miles on them. Aczr2k

Now I have to go get some titan 589's too to keep up with ya! I could have used them onn my last trip to Morales. 20" of rain in a week did a number on us. Lots of Stucks! Try www.4atvtires.com, highlifter, and rockymountainatv.com . Let me know how they work... we either have hard rock sand or soupy mud!

dakotart,

i'm probably going to let the old 489s run down a little before i go spend another $300 on tires. i just purchased 8 tires for my van and truck and that ran a cool grand.

At least you got 8 tires for a grand. The four tires on my R/T cost $880! 255/55/HR17's are expensive. Then the 265/75/R16 LT's on my 3/4 ton are $130 each for an E load range and 8plys. I want some new atv tires too. But I HAVE to get married! I'll be in bastrop this weekend working on our water and electricty hook ups if you want to swing by and ride some.

dakotart,

this weekend sounds quite possible. my brother called me monday evening and informed me he is goin' to get hitched to his little sweetheart from arkansas on 02-02-02--ground hog day. i'm going to be best man...go figure. before then i'm going to drop a few pounds. i used to weigh 360lbs now i weigh 338lbs...of course my adjusted ideal weight is 292 lbs so i don't have far to go. every night of the week from 8 to 9 is mine and duey's workout time and we are going to drill each other to do more and more until we reach our desired goals. plus, arkansas (specifically little rock) has a good supply of good looking women that even rivals swtsu in my opinion.

I've ridden my 589's on every surface there is, except sand. They really are an outstanding tire! On hard pack they will stay with any other tire I've ever ridden with. If you need a little more rubber contact, just air them down some. I ride mine at max pressure all the time, and I still stay with everyone else. The one down fall is that they are not true to size, so get the 27". They only net out at about 26.5". Cowboy has 27" bi/tri claws on his AutoCat, and they fit, look, and perform very well for him. So I don't think you have to worry about fit.
