I rode my first Arctic Cat today, it was the 500 4x4 Automatic. When I put this thing into a turn it had some major body lean. How does this thing handle on the trail at speed and in turns? Is this the way it is supposed to do or did I have a lemon? I didn't care alot for for the steering but everything else was ok. Is there a way to overcome this or just get used to it?

Thanks

I really have not had any problems with body roll, its just another way to kick out the back end while turning. Every now and then I drive fast, but i really dont mind becasue it has great suspension and thats a price that you pay for the good things in life.
Thanks

You will have to learn to ignore the body roll. If you want a high speed handler you bought the wrong machine, however to get maximun traction you need 4 tires ON THE GROUND, & that my friend is what the Cat's are good at, you can't have both! Enjoy, you got one of the best OFF-ROAD machines out there.

There are several of the guys on this forum who have used an easily installed spring spacer on the front shocks,(1\4 inch to 3\8 inch if I remember correctly). They say this fixes their body roll problem. If you want the excellent articulation leave it stock if you want good articulation with less body roll you could use the spring spacers. When I buy a new wheeler, it will be an AC, unless something changes my mind.

If you do a search on this subject you'll find some good threads on it from Boner or Cowboy. I think Rob is right they were using 1/4"-3/8" in front and a little more than that in the rear.
