Hey dude I rode my cat last year in about 8" of snow having to much fun with 489s stock was my only problem and my wife following me with a 2x4 ac that hurt . I didnt expect that but it did almost as good as my 4x4 she went ever where i went .I dont know how deep your snow is but less than a foot you want have problems at all, 2001-400-4x4 2000-250-2x4 1997 -220-bayou

I am running Titan 589s , the first winter I ran the 489s and then last winter I went to the 589s. There is better traction with the more aggressive tread but the differance in the snow is not huge. Once the snow depth gets you to the point of hanging up underneath, your stuck. I find I use my winch a lot more in the winter than in the spring mud for this exact reason. I don't think you will have any problems with the 489's until the snow depth gets deep and then it does not make any differance what rubber you run.
