of a 01 Cat 300 4x4. The dealer had a few left overs to sell, and at $4250 (before tax and setup), I couldn't pass it up. This thing is sweet! I have a 00 Prarie 300 4x4, and while the Kawi is a great bike, never any troubles, the Cat offers so much more. Only time will tell how reliable it is. Dollar for dollar I doubt that there is any bike out there that is comparable as far as features are concerned. I paid over a grand less than I did for my Prarie. The only thing I don't care for is the big gaping hole in the middle of the bike, it is just not appealing to the eye. Does anyone have any ideas on how to utilize that space, like to mount a small dry box, tool box or something? I wouldn't be totally covering the engine or oil cooler up, probably not a good idea due to air flow for cooling purposes. I've been doing a lot of reading on the forums about the cat 300, so I also had the dealer install the rear CV guards and I ordered the 4" rack extenders. I'm also amazed out how easy the bike is to steer, I'm used to the Prarie which is really hard to steer and feels as it's digging into every turn I take. Well, anyways, I'm glad I got the bike and I hope that I have the same luck with it as I've had with my Kawi. And yes, I am going to do the diff lock on the front end.

Congrats on your new bike. Im not sure if you know this, but on the 2001 and prior 300 AC you can adjust your 2x4/4x4 lever so you can also get 2x4/4x4/4x4 locked dif. Its a very simpe adjustment. First disconnect the linkage from the diff you should be able to move the lever on the front dif to three different locations. You need to lengthen the linkage so you it allows you tp get all three options. If you do a dearch in this forum there is a detailed post about this process about this subject. Good luck and happy riding

I think that you will be pleased with your bike purchase. Even if you do end up trashing a boot they are not hard to replace. I work at a dealership and I also picked up a year end 300 with an 8" rear and a 4" front extender and the extenders are handy as can be. We still have a few 2001s left if anyone wants a good deal on them..........

prarie dog,
On my king quad there was a plastic panel on either side where your speaking ot that hole, king quad is the same set up as your ac300(which I'm sure aware of)Maybe you could get some black plastic and make some panels, just go look at a 00 or 01 kq and see what I mean.Happy Holidays
