Rode a 375 Auto 4x4 and I liked it.

Last Friday I went down to Versailles and rode a Cat 375 Auto 4x4. Very soft seat and a nice soft ride, plenty of power. Reached 40mph quickly and smoothly. It took me a while to figure out what that bellows thing was doing on the rear axle. I also like the mechanical 4x4 shifter.
There where only two things I didn't care for but are nit picky items: Single lever brakes (is there a split kit out there?) and the shifter for the tranny is on the same side as the brake lever. I backed down a small hill and then had to reach across with my right hand to shift so I could still hold the brakes.
I realize that those two things are very minor. I really liked it alot. I have wait till after the first of the year before I buy, but this one is diffently one that I will consider.
I want a long soft seat with, auto tranny, 2wd/4wd option and engine braking. This one has it all.
happy riding!

I own a 375 4x4 as well. I think you'd find after using the AC braking system that you won't miss the split system. The AC brakes do a wonderful job of stopping the bike with confidence. I've had the 375 up dirt banks so steep that I was afraid to unmount it (ans was actually thinking about trying to winch myself back down), the brakes performed flawlesly!
For situations where you're moving down a hill the 375 engine braking is more than sufficient 90 percent of the time. If you're pointing down a STEEP hill and you have the bike in 4 wheel and low gear, the engine braking is so apparent that you will find your self nudging the throttle to make the 375 move faster.
The engige braking alone, will keep your left hand idle most of the time!
As a side note.
It's taken me a good 50 miles to get the brakes to the point where they are at their best and the engine braking has improved as the engine breaks in.
