AC discontinued their watter craft line. Makes me wonder what will they do with their ATV line if sales dont meet expectations. I went by the dealer today and looked at the new 500s verry nice. No autos in stock though. They had a 99 500 still new .3 miles on it they want 5499.99 for it
They really should have stayed with the same tires just not as wide in front. All they had was some older brochures i asked them when they stoped making the 454 he said "they dident they just call it a 500 now no changes" WOW what a dumb ***. They seem like a very nice bike. Maby put som 28" tire on with a lift to gain some top speed ???? evryone says they are geard low. But the deal with their watter craft still scares me

 

They are geared about the same as anything else i have ridden actually. They do have low range, but its like anything else. low is low and high is high. That guy was a goob. They stopped making the 454 in mid 1998 and bored it to 493cc keeping the same frame and everything else. The 99 model just had a little more padded seat, bigger tires, and a start in gear feature. Thats it.

 

I don't figure AC will discontinue their ATV's for any reason. They are just starting to get some pretty good sales. The 454 and 500 are just about the same bike. They made a few minor changes between 98 and 99. Like the seat. It is a little more padded on the 500. The rims are wider on the 454 and the 500 has the start in gear feature. As I said they have minor diffs. The most minor feature of all and I just barely noticed it was the speedometer. Where it shows the little AC emblem at the bottom right hand corner the 454 says "Arctco" and the 500 says "Arctic Cat". As I said minor minor diffs.
