Yesterday was my first real ride on my new AC 300 4x4, last day of gun season here in MD. It's real sweet! Driving this thing through the woods in 2wd mode is so much easier than my Prarie. The 489's grip excellent! I never put it in 4wd, just kept her in 2wd low and went through and over everything my buddy's Honda Fourtrax 4x4 did, but my quad seem to do it with more ease. We went up some pretty steep hills, I'm actually suprised I made it up so easily. I also noticed how much quieter the AC is compared to his Honda and my Prarie. So far it appears to be a great quad. Wish it had a little better mud/debris protection around the engine and drive components, but I guess part of the fun is cleaning it.

One problem I have is, my left headlight burned out! No high or low beam. Can't understand why, it's only a week old and has about 10 miles on it. I thought it might be the wiring, but the bulb is actually frosted looking, it's definitey gone. Has anyone ever seen this happen on a new bike? No big deal, I'll replace it. My concern is that it sat out in the rain most of the day, and we rode through a some mud on the way back. Just hope something didn't cause the bulb to go, like too much current draw or something. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Blair

I had the same problem on my first ride. No rain that day, everything was dry. The right-side bulb blew. The bulb actually cracked! Not sure why but it hasn't happened since I replaced it.
Perhaps some factory bulbs are defective? Bulbs are probably not sealed properly at their metal base/housing? Dealer said he's never had complaints about bulbs burning. I just had a complaint about the $18.00 he wanted for a new bulb! Oh well...

We replaced a set of headlights on a 400- the sockets melted. The guy who brought the lights in for warranty said that the bulbs were loose, but I'm guessing he was messing with something........

Prarie-dog~

Congratulations on your new Cat. You will most certainly have a ton-o-fun on it. The left bulb also burned out on my 300 at 143 miles. I think it's just "one of those things"

I went to the local bike shop and tried to see if any other brand/type bulb would fit. The parts guy said that they had some Honda bulds. One type only had a single beam, it was about $8, the other looked too long. I guess I'll bite my tongue and go ahead and order 2 AC bulbs. Thanks for the replies.
