I'll check the parts list on the micro fiche next time I'm out there. And see if it mentions a filter in the gas tank assembly. Having just priced a lot of these parts (due to my unforturnate multi-endo), I don't remember seeing a filter in it. But I'll look to make sure. I guess I could also take my petcock/shutoff valve off (since the tanks off right now anyway) and see if it is adequate.

If there is a filter there, and it is adequate, then I guess this whole thread is negated. But that's why we have these discussions. I'll let you know

 

I could have sworn my 01 400 came with an inline fuel filter. I know I went and bought one for it and went to install it and there was one there already. I will look again tonight but I am sure that it has one. It's one of the first things I install on my ATV's.

 

That would be great if there is one on there ttaylor, but I can't find it. Where is it located at? Are you talking about the on in the petcock?

 

I looked on the mirco fish today for you guys and found no mention of a gas filter or screen, but in the picture of the fuel petcock assembaly, there appears to be an "in tank" screen at the very top of the petcock like there was on my 1999 model. This is the only thing I could find that remotely resembals a fuel filter.
