Hey all you 500i owners...

Profish, I don't know about comparing a 500 with a 700 but it rode my AC 500 Auto with a Polaris 500 for over 35 miles one wintery afternoon. I must admit I found the Polaris to be a smoother ride but I did not like the ergos on the Polaris. I felt too confined on the Polaris. I like to move around on the seat and stand up. The Polaris was more like riding a horse.
On the flats (in six inches of fresh powder) we were equal with the Polaris being faster. While going up a very steep pipeline I was actually catching up to the Polaris and had to let off the gas to keep from rearending it. For the technical stuff. We had to go over two large logs a couple of feet apart which traversed the trail. The Polaris kept sliding around on the logs. The Cat climbed very surefooted over the logs as if there were one.
As for driver experience, my partner had been riding ATVs (all types) for five years. I had three weeks experience (90 miles).
When the sun went down, I had to lead because my lights were better. (replaced the 27 watters with 50)
Just wanted to share my ride with you.

Profish:
It will be a while! The 500i I just picked up is my begginers bike. I even had them put training wheels on the sides. By the time I learn how to utilize its ability to the max and can afford the high gas bills/low milage from a bigger bike, AC will have a thundercat 1000i out as they control the top end in the sled market and run circles around Polaris. But actually a 500 is all I think I am going to need for my usage for the forseeable future. I almost thought it might be too BIG! Plus I don't like the sounds of spinning belts 50 miles from the nearest road (polaris experience of a friend). The 700 is a belt drive isn't it?
