Now that you have that cool bike, how are they in mud and on technical trails when compared to the 650, 660, and 700? Anyone have a chance to ride with them yet?

Due to the time of year, haven't had any chances to go mudding with any yet (nor would I want to, cold & wet, bad combo).

I have ridden those 3 models for 50 to 150 miles each, but I have not gotten to ride on a trail with them on my 500i yet, can't wait though.

In having riden them and of course mine. Anyone of them would out accelerate and go a higher top speed than mine. But, I will still say that the i model will go through technical trails better (which is the type of riding I do most, and why I bought the i over the other 3). I also wanted a manual, which I couldn't get with them.

But, I can't wait to go riding with those other models, so I don't have to wait after every technical section and just keep riding :-) I grew up in a little town, about 45 minutes north of Binghamton, NY. Wish I could riding up there with my i model in those beautiful hills/valleys.

Let us know if you ever get to try out the i model through the technical stuff. You'll love the balance/articulation, but will probably be disappointed with the speed. Wish I knew about the mud holes. I've only gone through little 1-2 footers, GA has been going through a drought and there isn't much mud here right now.

Thanks for the reply. Guess we'll have to wait until more people ride a while. I considered the 500i manual too. Must have a great ride. I'm trying to talk some guys into buying one just to try it out! Don't get me wrong, I love my 660. Just think the 500i will outshine everything when the trail get really ugly. Enjoy.

Only ridden a couple of other machines, smaller than 500cc. Picked one I think I might be able to afford and that should meet my needs for the next 10-20 yrs! It also has the best in class specs, at least according to AC ads. I looked at most brands and decided against an auto and then jumped on the 500i manual. It was my choice machine and when I went to inquire about availability and price one dealer told me at least 6-8 weeks. The other told me he would check with his regional Rep and let me know. I stoppped in the next day and he had it! It arrived when I got there. Hearing how you all had been waiting pushed me into a snap decision. 6 miles over some large rocks and trees and I have got no complaints other than the idle issue. The ride reminds me of my sledding days, on a Polaris Classic Touring, with Extra-12, in fresh powder! Ye Ha!

Well where i live there is not a lot of available riding without going at least 40 minutes west or 45 minutes north. The beautiful Tomco enclosed bike trailer I bought in Oct. before I bought the quad is 0.5" too narrow@#$%^ I thought most ATVs were about 40-44 inches. It is now in the trader and I bought an open utility. I don't like the idea of dragging it throuh saltspray during the winter. I need to enclose the new one when it gets a bit warmer out. I haven't found any listings for a decent trailerable cover. What is available and how much would they be? I only have 6 miles on it so so far i really don't RIDE anywhere. I bought it for hunting but plan to use it for some ice fishing and a bit of trail riding in the summer. 21 mo old at home keeps me pretty busy. The wife isn't too pleased about the purchase so I can't just start going away every weekend!

Nice country up there; my dad had a friend with a pine a-frame. We used to visit when I was a kid and troll for the big lakers, although I don't remember what lake it was. Is Baptiste or something around there?. I am not one to bargain too much when it comes to buying something I want. I paid full retail of 8300 + 99 (winch)+ 149 (instalation). I figure if i don't try to kill their minimal profit margin on the sale i might get a little better service when i need it! Can use it as guilt trip on them. It was worth it to me as at 37 i'm getting too old to haul all my hunting gear on my back, or at least that was my excuse!

You tell me there are a herd of whitetails in your backyard and you need some help and I'll be there. Maybe you can teach me some of this "technical stuff" while we are pulling out a couple of 275lbers! Your tires sure do look hot but i need to make a few payments and use the winch a few times before I could ever justify an upgrade.
