Well I got the new camera today this is what I have so far. The ones on the blocks are 7" blocks and there is about 1/2" under the right rear tire with no rider. When I sit on it they all 4 are on the ground.

I hope they work, this is a first attempt.mudcats pics

Mudcat,
Thanks for posting the pics. Before I bought my 400i, my dealer said that the regular model would do the opposite corner flex just as well as the new i model. However, I think your photos prove him wrong. However, how many times would a person get into that sort of situation where they need more than 7 inches on opposite corners? I think all models of the Artic cats are good machines...some just so different things better. I think you will be very happy with your choice of machine. Enjoy and ride safe.

I read this thread this AM and wondered what the flex would be on my '04 400 ACT. When I went riding there were some pieces of railroad tie laying around and since I had my digital camera ready, I thot I'd check it out.

I really didn't expect as much flex as the "i" models, but by all accounts the ACT suspension is supposed to be pretty good. I think the pictures show this to be the case. I didn't measure the blocks, but a standard railroad tie is about 7-8" thick, I believe.

For reference, I placed my son, Chris, on the ATV for the first two pictures. He's 5'4" and about 110 lbs. The last four are with me on it, I'm 6'2" and about 250 lbs. While I didn't take a photo, with noone on the ATV there was about 2" of air below the right rear tire. As soon as my son hopped on, the space dissappeared.

To view these photo's, go to my photo album site in my signature, then look for the "400 ACT" album under the "ATV picts" section.

I was mildly surprised by the results. The ACT suspension shows nearly as much flex as the "i" pictures I've seen. Of course, the clearance is less.

Yes these ACT suspension quads do flex well. I would like to see some other brands 660, 500HO, 700, Rubicon to show the differences. I will try to get a pic of the AC 250 4x4 soon.

This quad has only 60 miles on it, my other one was recalled with over 700 miles. It looked just like this one and loosened up might have flexed even better. It is amazing we can get this much flex and not have 4 more cv joints. I have been riding AC quads since 98 and have yet to have any serious problems.
