Does anyone know the top speed of the Arctic Cat 375? Does it have good acceleration? Is the 400 faster or slower?

I don't know the top speed. It's been reported at about 53mph. My 400 gets to about 53 on it's OD, but once you top 45 or so, the next few miles per hour come slowly.

The 375 accelerates faster than the 400, I know this. My brother beats me in a drag race every time (and he outweighs me). Does this qualify as "Good acceleration?" Well, I don't know. I've driven a Kodiak that put the 375 to shame. Wasn't even CLOSE in comfort, but it was way faster.

Try a search in this forum on the 375.. you'll get tons of useful info. I own a 375 4x4, I used to get 53 (MAX) on the spedo before I put 27" GBC Dirt Devils all the way around.. Just like Pechmial said, 45 or so comes pretty quick but after that the spedo climbs slowly so be on a long stretch. Forget about doing 50 up a hill, it won't happen.

As far as acceleration, the Arctic Cat's arent known for Snap-your-neck speed. The 375 4x4 weighs 649 lbs bone stock dry. My 375 has the 2500lb Warn winch (add 40 lbs) and 4 27x10x12" GBC Dirt Devils (Add another 40 LBS), so my 375 is about 750 lbs with a full tank of gas. That's Heavy! But it pushes me around like a champ!

I've been riding with a guy on a 400ex and kept up with him no problem on the trail.. A drag race was another story of'course..

Good Luck!

Hey Ethernut, how do you like your Dirt Devils? I been looking at a replacement set for the stock 489's for awhile, and the Dirt Devils look pretty good. I was wondering if the 27" tires measured a true 27", or if they're shorter? Thanks in advance for any info.

The Dirt Devils are an AMAZING tire. I'm getting traction I never thought possible. They self clean like crazy! They ride smooth a silk too! The Dirt Devil 27's are more like 26.5" but are every bit of 10' wide unlike the dung heap Dunlops that came on the quad. If I had it to do over I might even get the 28's they'll fit NO PROBLEM with one caveat. I started out with 26x12x12 rear and 26x10x12 front. Once I saw how easy the 10's would fit on the front I decided that I should've gone taller in the front. When I had the 26x12x12 mounted in the rear and took the ACT suspension through it's maximum articulation I found the the 12's were too wide and they hit the springs. I wasn't about to do the spring spacer thing so I took the 26's back and got 27x10x12 all the way around. The 27 work great and they do NOT come close to the springs when the rear end articulates.

The caveat is as I stated... Don't get 12 width on the rear, they won't fit on a '02 'Cat without modification, they're 8 lbs heavier a tire than the 10's and they are more than most of us need. The 10's look GREAT all the way around.. they make the quad look evil.. I was riding with some guys that were running blackwaters a few weekends ago and they kept commenting on the tread patterns of the Dirt Devils. The devils make this NASTY "V" pattern in the dirt/mud/and snow... they kinda look like sharp teeth..wicked..

You will not go wrong with the devils if you're looking for great all around tire. You have to see them up close to appreciate them. Here's a Pic from another user that has them on her 'Cat. She has the 12's but she also has an '01 500, the shock's are mounted further inward than on the '02 bikes so here 500 will allow the 12' wide tires. This should give you an idea what the tires look like on the quad. Now that I look back on it, I'm glad I stuck with the 10's and saved some weight/rolling friction.

Another thing. The off camber performance of my 375 went WAY up. The Devils are a 6 ply tire with stiff sidewalls and the 10's up front widened the stance a few inches.. The bike feels much more stable.

Good Luck!

Ethernut,
You state:
When I had the 26x12x12 mounted in the rear and took the ACT suspension through it's maximum articulation I found the the 12's were too wide and they hit the springs.

Does this statement apply to all 02 machines or just the 375? I have 25x12.5x12 Kenda Bearclaws mounted on the rear of my machine and have not heard any contact with the springs, but they are only 25 verses your 26 inchers. However, I doubt that I have had the machine to maximum articulation. How did you manage that or was it just from normal riding? Or did you perform some sort of articulation test?

Thanks.

The 12" Devils are a little wider than 12" from what I remember if you include the massive lugs on the side of the tire.. I put them on and backed the right rear wheel up on a 9" ramp. The 26x12x12 Dirt Devil was actually pushing my spring inward at that point.. I read somwhere where a guy has the 25 inch Dirt Devils on his bike with no problem.. so the 26x12x12 devil may be a little too much tire for the '02 without spacers.. while the bike was sitting level with the 26x12x12 devils there was about 1.25 inches between the tire and the spring.. not much to say the least..

If you look at this picture and note the upper mounting postion of the '01 500's rear shocks.. then look at your '02 rear shock mounting position. You'll notice that on the '01 bikes that the shocks were mounted further in (away from the tire).

That's why the 12's didnt work the way I wanted on my bike.. As long as the bike was level it was fine.. but when one of the rear wheels went up and the other went down the tire was rubbing the shock..

Your link to picture does not work....but I found it anyway. You might want to fix it for others who are interested.

Fixed!

I noticed that you had a 400i, that changes things quite a bit.. Any of the tires discussed should fit on the i series no problemo!

Ethernut,
I am going to do the articulation test tonight by running the quad up some ramps in the garage. I will report results tomorrow regarding the clearance issues of 25 X 12.5 Kenda Bearclaws on a 400i.
