Hey Guys it was me who wrote that article, am just tired of seeing machines get baby'd, I have a 2000 Grizz with 4000km of hard riding in deep water and mud and some major pulling too. It has not broke once or overheated but on the flip side, i'd like to see real shootouts like this so I could really get a good look as to what is really strong out there. They give hi marks to Polaris but i'm sorry, my buddy has a HO and he can't keep a belt on it, he shreds them because he pulls hard in HI gear instead of LOW. What's up with that. The only time I put mine in LOW is when i'm pulling 600+ lbs, but not to go through mud holes or to climb steep hills.
I wonder how the new Big Bores will do in real torture tests. For myself I miss changing gears and I still am worried with belt drive 100 miles in the woods, blow a belt and your being towed home.
Right now i'm looking at a AC 500 Manual and a Traxter XT, they both have there good and bad points. But to be totally honest, these 2 are probably the TOUGHEST machines you could get right now without going down to a 400 big bear. I think they have both taken over Honda in the Tough dept. now, there heavy but over built for quality thats why. They don't have any gadgets all over the place to go wrong.

I agree with you 200%

They need to ABUSE these machines (not with baseball bats, but with the hard REAL kind of use and riding people put their machines through) to see which one comes out on top. I am tired of the Mags. going over the same crap that everyone knows and no one wants to hear. ACs are built like tanks.. so sure they aren't jumpers.. but they would do what they are designed for 'til the cows come home in my opinion. They are basic with no unnecessary do-dads and gadgets to break. Tough.
