Buckweet,

A couple ideas for your towing problem. 1. Trade-in your popup for a horse trailer with living quarters and haul the ATVs in the back. 2. Buy a utility trailer big enough to haul the the whole works.

I actually saw a guy that went even further with the second idea. Since he took his ATV almost everywhere he camped, he took the running gear off the popup and bolted the thing down to the utility trailer.

Wow Bob!

Thats some serious dedication to ATVing. Some really good feedback guys! I'm kinda suprised no one mentioned a front mounted hitch for the Suburban. At 80+ inches long I think it may block the headlights... Dang!

I'm really intrigued by the concept of actually trailering the camper on top of a larger utility trailer... I guess I'd need to move up to a tandem 4000 # trailer. Hmmm. Done correctly, you could load/unload the camper with the quad loaded at the front of the utlity trailer. Ingenious! I think I've just been to close to this whole thing! Unlike our friend who ripped the base wheels off his trailer, I could simply devise some sort of mounted option/secure system for fastening the trailer. Then, at a whim, I could go camping without quads and the monolithic trailer.

O.K., off to search for big a$$ trailers! Thanks again guys!

I wheeled through a area just north of stillwater last January when it was 50 and muddy. The best part was a 6 mile stint through half frozen swamp on a federal trail by big marine lake. This should be pure mud in about a week or two so I'm going back. That is if it ever stops snowing!

Woodsmith, are you the guy who bought your AC from Century? I went in and talked to the guy you recommended... (Although I forgot his name). You're right, he was totally cool and had nothing but hassle free time for me.

How do you like your 300 4X4? Any regrets? I test drove one and loved it!

Allright, now that I've got a (Stillwater) local, are there any issues you've run into (legal) with riding around here? Just the other day I was turning east onto 10 from Manning and saw a cop writing a ticket to a quad.

Where can we legally ride this time of year? Are ditches only open from August to April? Do you get hassled by the snowmobilers?

I'd really like to hear your feedback, as it will strenthen my argument to my wife for us to get out and buy the AC quads!

Thanks!

One last thing Woodsmith, how do you like the Kawi 360? I rode a Praire 300 that was an absolute dog. I'll not profess to have a great depth of ATV knowledge, but this thing seemed WAY underpowered and awfully hard to get warmed up...

The dealer said, "it probably needed to have the Carb rejetted?!?" It was BRAND NEW. I then went over and drove the AC 300 4X4. So much fun, and I dig the manual shifter... Would love to hear how the 360 performs...

My buddy told me he was talking to the DNR guy, and he said that ATV's ain't aloud in any ditch any time of the year. I can't say I belive this 100% I do belive if the trails are open for sleds you can drive on them. 10th to my knowledge not a trail so he could have a ticket. Just because you can drive there doesn't make it a state trail.
The 360 is a good bike. It's much faster then the 300 but I'm not looking for speed. The auto is also the way to go. 360 rides a lot rougher and the seat is too wide after a long day on the trails. The cat feels like a Cadillac after you ride the 360 for a few hours. I love the independent and wish I would have bought independent for my second bike to. The arctic cat can also pull my 360 around like it's not there in a tug of war in a mud pit. The 300 also pulled around a Rubicon 500 that very same day. The tires on the 360 are very week and I will soon switch them for 589s I love both the bikes but the 300 is a better bike. It also comes with Titan 489 a all around good tire. In June the new cat line comes out and I hope there is a 700 class bike with fully independent and auto.

Woodsmith, thanks for the feedback. Thats really cool to hear how powerful and comfortable the AC300 is.

I thought you'd find this interesting... A few days back I e-mailed the DNR to get the specifics on where, when you can ride... Here is that e-mail -

In the agricultural zone you can't operate an ATV in the road ditch until after August 1. The only exception to that is if the trail in the ditch is part of a designated ATV trail, of which their isn't any in the Metro area at this time. Your closest riding opportunities would be by Red Wing to the south or Hinckley to the north.

Some riding areas in the Metro area are being worked on but those type of projects move very slowly in that environment. I would expect it will take a couple of years to get something open in the Metro area during the summer. I have heard of a couple of private parties that are working on opening something up, that would probably happen quicker than something by the public sector.

If you contact the DNR information desk at 651/296-6157 and ask for ATV map packet they will provide you with the signed and mapped riding areas in Minnesota.

I'm going to request the packet.

I've heard of that place. Me and some other guys were thinking of heading down there since it's not very far from my town. How much space is there to ride on?
