Hi all, I was washing the mud of my quad yesterday and noticed that the paint was rubbed of the left rear spring. The paint is also rubbed off the control arm where it is toughing. The clearance seems to be there, it must be shifting when driving. Has anyone seen this yet??? Thanks

I have noticed minor paint wear on the shock body(s) on my 500i. Not on the spring itself, but on the lower portion of the shock body. I have seen this before, on dirt bikes, I consider it harmless. Arent you the guy that posted about squeaking from your tires? I have previously posted info about wear marks on the inside of my wheels (at the center of the hub area). I will try to apply some light grease there next time the wheels are off (could be a while!). That above mentioned squeaking concerns me, I feel that there is something that needs some lube or the like. I dont have enough miles (95) to generate some of the problems mentioned here, but it sure is nice to read the post from others with more experience alerting me to potential future problems. You may have picked a muddy stick or something that rubbed the paint from the spring. Consider spraying some WD-40 on the affected area after washing to protect the metal. I use WD-40 on my muffler after every wash to keep it from rusting (a trick I learned from my AC sled).
