my fathers 5oo never needs choking unless it,s very cold mine needs to be choked all the time on start up unless it hot outside. try playing with the reserve control then adjust the idle speed abit if that doesn,t work you,ll need some carb adjustment also i noticed pops machine gets condensation in his gas tank because it,s under an atv tarp a little isoprophyl alcohol might help ,good luck,

Jees some folks are paranoid about chokes, YES choker an engine WHENEVER it needs it. The worst you are going to due short of have a choke stuck on is to ruin a spark plug. No 2 hours doesn't sound right though, after adding gas the carbs bowl should fill up and flood the main jet circut automatically, making 'dry' starts easier than some other types of carbs. ( after the motor is running the main jet allows gas through as allowed by vaccum and needle/slide position, but when the motor is stopped many carbs have the main jet uder fuel so the motor gets a free shot of fuel, no secret there, carb designers just figured that one out at some point. )
