I was at my local dealer yesterday and asked about a 500 MRP and what he would give me for my 2001 Magnum 325 ,So he came to my farm and looked at my magnum and told me the price of a 500 MRP $8825 CDN but he would only give me $4500 for the magnum ... I didn't think that was enough.. But I said I was really interested in a 500 MRP so lastnight he brought me a 2002 500i to try (the demo unit) I was really impressed with the suspention.. he said I could have it for a few days..I thought that was cool... One thing I found the 500 kind of noisey... but man what a ride ...So today I was at the dealer because we were making a deal on another peice of equipment..It is a Farm Dealership..and I asked when he would have a 500 MRP so he called them and they said if he has one sold it would be middle of Aug or end... But I really liked the 500i... I found it really tall at hte start but I guess you get used to that....

One of the local (Calgary) CAT dealers that I visited yesterday also indicated that he expected the 03 500i to arrive mid to late August. You are getting a good price (except for the PST) ~ the price I was quoted for the 03 500i MRP Auto was $8999 CDN...

If you liked the 02 500i, you will REALLY like the 03...apparently the engine has been substantially improved.

excellent! didn't know about the farm use exemption. either way it looks like you were quoted a really good price.

ZRMan, I was curious about what you meant by 'noisy'. I know that AC sleds are considered 'noisy', or louder than other sleds. Is that what you meant, or was there some other noise in the drivetrain of the 500i? The i models are tall, but very stable. The suspension is SO confidence-inspiring.

I think the motor is noisey when you pick up speed but it is a bigger motor than my 325 maybe you just have to get use to it... I took the wife out on the demo and she was impressed by the suspension also so I am sure I am going to get a 03 500 MRP I just have to sell my 325 magnum first... Like I said before I don't think they are allowing me enought for the 325... But all in all I was impressed with the AC I have rode ATV ever since I was a little guy (Yam ,,Honda ,,Polaris) but I have been most impressed by the AC....

i use to think that the dealer doesn't allow much on trade ins, but think of it this way, when you trade it in you only pay tax on the difference, so 8899-4500=4399. so you'd only pay tax on 4399, which is 659.85, instead on tax on 8899 which is 1334.85 (15% tax in N.S) so you're saving 675 dollaris on tax. so him giving you 4500 for your magnum, would be the same as you selling it on your own for 5175, plus all the hasle of tring to sell it.
