I'm with ya on this one, Muffpot. I'd like a lime green 500i auto with the chrome rims and that metal front bumper. Can't get that color, though. Apparently it's reserved for the "flagship" models.

I bet you can order the plastic and stickers, though, for an extra $500 or so.

I also don't know what Cat was thinking about when they decided on this, I just got my 2002 500i a month ago so I'm all set for a while but if I were looking to get a 2003 500i I would want a manual in the Cat lime green color too but I wouldn't be able to get it! Its the same deal with the new rack system !!. Dont the auto's and manuals share the same plastic and racks? I too prefer the manuals over the autos, but from what ive read if i want to get the new rack system im limited to buying an auto?? Makes no sense to me at all, but then im just a consumer.

Whats so good about manuals, autos are faster and they still have the same towing capasity.

Well for one thing you tend to notice more power with manuals, you also don't have to worry about water getting on the belt since there isn't one and plus a lot of people just prefer them.

I personally just like to shift. I got my 400 the same time my brother got his 375. His is basically a better machine in every arena, but I still like mine more because I can shift it.

They all have identical plastic, so I don't think there is any reason you can't swap plastic out for the lime green if you want it, but I still think AC should offer the color on more models. Same with the MRP, I'd be more interested in that if it came on the manuals.

I DO think the TRV should remain auto only, though, if only for safety.

I agree that the lime green should be available regardless of what you are looking for...It's too cool looking, definetly an Arctic Cat trademark.... It should be flaunted by AC...The problem I have is all these people trashing the auto's...I TRULY believe that the auto is the way to go, and that it is the way of the future of the machines (sorry, manual guys...I used to believe that I would only buy a manual ATV but after my 500i auto I am an 'auto' guy completely...I think having a snowmobile for many years (no shifting on snowmobiles) has changed my way of looking at recreational vehicles...) I respect the guys that want to shift; I wouldnt have anything but a standard tranny in my 4WD truck or sports car, but....The AC 500i with the auto tranny is just so much fun I cant see anything else being any better...It just goes anywhere you want, and more power is just a thumb-squeeze away....:-D

I had a 01 500 auto and drowned it out several times as well as having to replace the clutch housing bearings a few times as a direct result of the water in the housing. That was the second and last belt drive for me. It is a great concept if it was as trouble free as the manual it would be great. The manuals have so much more usable power it is hard to believe. I know everyone doesn't want to shift but there are a lot that do. So far Cat has tried to keep us both happy. I just hope they continue to market to both sides of the shifter. It is crazy for them to not offer the MRP and slime green on the manuals.
