The lever appears to be loose, I haven't really looked at it to see if it needs adjustment or if I lost a spring or something. Any ideas?

Thanks

Crappy electrical, my rear tail light doesn't light up when I press the brake, only when I press the foot brake. I would blame electrical.

65fl, I have had a similar problem on my 01. I assume you are talking about the left disc hand-brake. My lever is always loose, I assume this is by design. When I spray my quad down after riding, the grease that is on that small cylinder that pushes in when you brake gets washed away. I use some 10w-40 or Tri-Flow to get the thing moving freely again. Without it, my brake light stays on too..

Hope this helps

No it doesn't it need adjustment and you didn't lose a spring.

It is the junky master cylinders that AC puts on them. I had mine replaced. Works fine now.

Brent
I had the same problem and thought crappy electrical also. Didnt check it for the longest time. Finally did yesterday. The small cylinder that pushes in has a plug on it about 1 1/2 feet down the cord. Mine was unpluged. Check yours out.Maybe thats all it is.

I got the chance to take a look at it last night, powercat and k20 hit the nail on the head. Basically it is the master cylinder plunger that is sticking causing the lever to be loose, thus not making contact with the switch. I soaked it with some wd-40, didn't seem to help. Has anyone ever bothered to tear it apart and see if this is caused by corrosion and if it can be rebuilt? Does anyone sell a rebuild kit, if not how much is a new one?

Thanks again for the help,
65fl
