rolled it today!

Sorry to hear that. I can appreciate how much it hurts. I rolled mine about 7 weeks ago, but I was going up hill and seperated my ribs. It took 4 weeks before I could take a deep breathe without pain. I gotta ask the question, did you get back on and ride some more or did you have to quit? I was foolish enough to keep on riding, probably caused more damage. I had tears in my eyes with every bump, told the guys I was riding with it was the wind. I might need to rethink the adage my Ma taught me: "When you fall off the horse, get back on."
It hurt so bad at the end of the day I couldn't even close the tailgate on my truck.
I hope you heal quickly and didn't cause major damage to your ride. All I did to mine was break the speedo, funny though that the odometer still works.

atvmanthatrides,
I'm impressed that you can determine a persons skill level from a short post, or do you subscribe to the belief that anyone who has an accident can't ride? Does this keen insight come from one entire year of riding your Kaw? There are a bunch of things that can cause roll overs, including poor judgement, however I see nothing in the posts above that indicate that was the cause of the accident. How can you judge what happened without seeing the trail or at least a little more information? Accidents happen man, but your "high and mighty" 'tude ticked me off.
If you are truly concerned with the image of ATVing, wouldn't it be more constructive to help disect exactly what went wrong then come up with suggestions/techniques to prevent such an incident? I know that after my accident I did exactly that, I learned a lot from my mistake as I am sure did Derek, at least I am willing to give him the benefit of doubt.
Taking jabs at each other and pounding our chests truly divides us. Enough of this, I'm going riding. I will make sure that I stay on flat terrain so that I don't run the risk of tarnishing the ATV image.

I agree with 65fl about the guilt trip bit. One must be carful when they act perfect. Growing up sometimes comes from hard knocks and everyone will make a mistake now and then.
But I think the original post points out one of the AC weaknesses. There is very little if any negative wheel travel built into these machines. And with the IFS on the (Front) Cats or any wheeler for that matter if you are going down a steep hill and one of your front tires falls into a small hole the opposite side rear is going to come up.
I know because the same thing happened to me. It bucked me right off and then proceeded to chase me down the hill.
Moral of the story, I have learned to shift my weight back even more going down hill. And also learned that if you get off the pavement it gets dangerous.
Be careful

500man, sorry to hear about your misfortune-get healthy quick. I'm just a little curious though, would you say that too much speed may have been a contributing factor in your crash? I'm not trying to bash, just hoping all of us (including myself, a novice ATV'er) can learn from your experience. From your post I'm guessing that the back rolled over the front; is that correct? It's scary just imagining that kind of crash. Good luck!

Delta, in my case I wasn't going fast at all. I don't even think that I was on the brake because I usually use engine braking instead of the brake; but I don't recall for sure. Maybe atvmanthatrides can answer that for me.
Anyhow. As I said; I was going down a pretty steep hill and the front left tire fell into a small dip that I couldn't even see and the next thing I knew the rear end threw me off like a horse.
