2003 500I top speed is.....

Well, here it is guys, I am a bit disappointed, my 2002 max speed was 53.6 miles per hour and for the new 2003, I only reached a top speed of 54 mph on the GPS. It seemed to have a lot more torque, I got up there a lot faster but I was really hoping to get up to around 58 or 59 mph.
Maybe next year they will come up with a big bore or something.

I thought the 500i would have more speed than that. My 400i does 55-56 according to speedo which i'm sure is not as accurate as gps, but i did race 2 different Honda 450's and beat them both.
I did not buy mine for speed but i am very satisfied with the speed that it has and can't see why anyone would call the new AC's slow? BTW how many stock 500's can hit 60 mph???
I've been reading this forum for a quite while and just decided to start posting.

I would imagine that your 450 isn't stock. Neither quad is by any means a speedster, and I could never just run off and leave a 450 (uh, 432) in the dust. I could outrun them though, which isn't much to brag about.
I'm interested to see the next big bore shootout with the 650 Honda in there. Heard different stories on its quickness so far. It felt good to me, though I only putted around the parking lot on it. Still, its going to hookup a lot quicker than any belt driven quad could. I hope its faster than the P650. The Rincon needs something to boast about to cover that $7500 tag while still sporting front drums and conventional limited slip.

Its going to take some time to tell for sure. Just like that Prairie/Grizzly debate that went on this time last year. After enough people have them, we will be able to tell something about it.
I just got to ride it around the parking lot. Could only tell a few things.
1. Its very smooth. Like an automatic in a car. You can tell there are gears in there and not a damn belt. The shift lever is right there where you can reach it, and its a totally smooth throw. I liked that.
2. Good turning radius. Very good. Turns on a dime in 2wd.
3. Smooth ride. I could tell that even without getting into anything.
4. Stable. Much like the 500i (but not quite as good), you can tell it has a wide trac unlike a Grizzly, and it looks like its setup to handle sidehills good.
5. Not much on articulation. Sat one rear tire up on the sidewalk (maybe 5 inches) and it didn't articulate even 1/4 as good as a 500i. Felt like my Grizzly if I have the sway bar on. Worthless for its intended purpose. The rincon also has a crappy anti-sway bar like the Griz, and if I had one and it was possible, I would disconnect it. Looked to me like it wouldnt keep all four on the ground even half as good as an ACT arctic cat.
6. Ground clearance was on par with all other IRS quads other than the 500i.
I was really impressed with it, and I would trade in if it had discs and a locker. The transmission alone would be worth it, but not worth the diff-lock trade off between it and the Grizz. It would be nice to not have to worry about water again. Never had any water problems with my 660, but I don't go around testing its limits either. I know good and well there's nothing good to come of it.
