I have a 2002 500i auto and the little pot metal latch that holds the hand brake lever for stopping on a hill breaks off nearly every time I use it. The dealer gave me a handfull of them, but says AC will not have improved replacements available for two months. However, I notice that the 2003 models have an improved latch. I don't see why they would have improved latches on the 2003 models but not available for retro-fit to the 2002's.

Does anyone know if the improved latches are available for the 2002 models?
