skaterkid,
i dont know what possesed you to open your mouth about this, but i suggest you think about it before you do it again. if you would have done this in any other manufacturer's forum, you would get a new a-hole ripped. no one that i know or any significant number of people on this forum have ever said that ac sucks. the only complaints ive ever heard begin with, " the ac is great but,..."
i understand that you are a rookie to the forum so i have no prob cuttin you some slack. if you have a question like this to ask, be more specific as to why the quads suck and word it a little more courteously.

I just have to say that a very good friend that I had not seen in awhile just let me borrow his 99 400 when I asked him. I know several people who own both Polaris and Honda's. I have borrowed the Honda and the Cat. By my friend letting me borrow his Cat I have decided, when finainces allow me, to purchase atleast a Cat 400 irs. I really want the 500. The only expeirience that I had had was about 38 miles on a Honda. Boy was I beet. I was totaly impressed and by him letting me do this and it really tells you that he believes in the streanght and durability of this machine. Its been stated before and I must say it again.
RIDE WHAT YOU LIKE, LIKE WHAT YOU RIDE.
All the makers have thier issues and I have read many of them here or in other forums and still I want a Cat over any of the rest.
Like Pechmial said, speed was not an issue and I believe most AC owners will agree.
Just my opinion.

This is probably a troll, but I'll bite.
I have nothing but high marks for my 500i. It did everything I wanted a quad to do - go anywhere, pull heavy loads, carry heavy loads, not break down, and still be fun. It also did a few things I didn't expect - the Cadillac ride, and the ability to fly over rough stuff and maintain composure. Steering is much lighter than my much smaller big bear. 500 miles, most of it across my craggy farm, and nothing has broken yet.
Speed? So what? Does anyone seriously go 60-70 mph on trails, or do they just like to brag about it? Seems like a good way to start a long relationship with the intensive care ward, or an even longer one with the graveyard.
Power - I suppose it isn't as fast as some other big bore quads, but be serious - it's a UTILITY quad. It's built to work and go through some serious rough stuff. If you want speed and power, get a banshee, they'll scare the pants off of you. Of course, they won't go where the Cat will, and that's kinda why I wanted a quad, to go to some serious rough spots. Judging utility quads by top speed is as absurd as judging sport quads by how much weight they can carry.
I look at the Cat as the Hummer of quads. Big, bulky, but very capable. If any quad can get there, the Cat will. Nobody rags on the Hummer for being slow, and it is quite slow. But it will get you there.

hey bud, you joined the same time he did, just because you posted 170 odd times doesn't mean your a vetern. Hell I'm not even a vetern. Why rag on him? Your second paragraph was much better but the first one was just a rag. No one else ragged on him but you, everyone else gave informative information.

The only problem I have had with my 400i is ripping boots. The boot protecters dont have enough coverage but there are after market protecters out there.Just in case your wondering I ride as hard as anyone, sometimes harder than most.I didnt buy an AC for speed as it is a utility quad.Although I have been hit with radar doing 55 mph on a flat paved road. The AC is best used doing what it was designed to do,rock crawling, hauling heavy loads and working in general. And what a smooth ride.I love my cat and I will be buying another next year for my wife. The best thing you can do is get out there and test ride diferent brands and models and buy what you like.

bbertram, before you jump the gun anymore, i think you should realize that regardless of how long a person has been a member of a particular forum, there are certain rules and common courtesy you should pick up on. if he had spent some time looking at posts he would realize that this forum isnt run like that. and this is not the first forum ive ever belonged to and i know that many members also have been around. i have leared that you need to judge other members not on the facts and figures but the content of their posts. im sure that you and others will extend the same to me.

I bought my AC 300 2 months ago and wouldn't give it up for anything. I tried all the quads out there and this was the best deal. Independant suspension,2 wheel and 4 wheel, speedo and odometer, floor boards with the heel/toe shifter on the manual, frt and rear racks, good rubber, full skid plate, super low , low and high trans, plus a warn 2500 winch. This quad might not keep up to the big boys on the straight aways, but it will make it thru anything. No other manufacturer can give you this many features for this money.

Well I Would just like to say!! From all the atv magazines I have read!! All ATV'S Have problems with ringing off axles when riding hard with stock axles. That is why there is alot of talk about after market axles on the market!! Instead of downfalling on one fault like you are!!! Try to modify and make your quad better!! A/C RULES!!
