Default Oil Quality

Hi, Just wondering what everyone thinks about Havoline 10W-40 oil? In the summer I think I'll use Castrol 20W-50 when it's HOT! One of the local stores has Havoline 10W-40 on sale at $1.00 a quart. Not a bad price. I might get a case. I don't think the oil is gonna get any cheaper these days! On my AC 375 I'll change my oil around 300- 350 miles ... depending on how I ride... Any comments on Havoline Oil or when to change oil? Thanks ..... FlatTire

I've never used Havoline. I've always used Castrol 10w40 year round. We get above
100 in the summer and 0 to -20 or so in the winter. My 454 has a little over 10,000
miles on it and I have always changed the oil every 300 miles since the break in period.

Thanks for the reply ArcticOutlaw. Here in Arkansas, Castrol is $1.66 per qt. One of the local's has Havoline at $1.00 per qt., on sale. I think Hav should do the job since I'll be doing a oil change @ 300 or 350 miles.. Oil shouldn't break down that quick.... Good to see that you have that many miles on your 454! treatin her right I see! I thought about the Castrol 20W-50 when the temp gets to around 100. Thanks again,
FlatTire
