Price Variation???
#1
Other than the obvious,(greed/demand/location), why is there such price variations on the Big Cats. It would figure that the auto would cost $150- $200 more, but in browsing the forum I have noticed the following unvalidated quotes;
99 AC500 $5450
99 AC500 $5500
99 AC500 $5900
00 AC500 $5000
00 AC500 $5400
00 AC500 $5800
00 AC500 Auto $5200
00 AC500 Auto $5825
00 AC500 Auto $6000
00 AC500 Auto $6150
This seems like an very large range of pricing ($5000 - $6150)regardless of dealers sales volume or geographic location.
I have not seen this kind of discepency to be as previlant with the other brands. Would the real "best price" for a 2000 500 Auto please stand up? If I can get one for $5200 I would hate to think I spent $6150. My local dealer is around the upper end of this quote range. I am not adverse to telling him that at $6000+ I will just wait for the Rubicon and he will be done doing business with me. So if anyone out there has valid/verified pricing please let me know.
If you are not sure it is a true price quote then please refrain from posting. In my opinion there is way to much information in the forums that starts with "my friends, brothers, cousin, tested one of those super turbo whiz bangs and he said they suck".
Thanks in advance

P.S. Is the Warn winch promotion the 2500 or the 2000. Arctic Cat shows the 2500 in its accessory catalog, but I had read in the forum that they were low balling in with the 2000 for the promotion. If they are using the 2000 for the promotion, yet advertising the 2500 as their prefered accessory winch, seems pretty goofy (cheap) to me.

I just bought mine on friday 2000 AC500 manual shift and I got it for 5400.00 Before I bought mine I went to another AC dealer that also sold honda and they wanted 5800.00 for a 99 AC500. The dealer that I bought mine from was solely a AC dealer and the dealer was out on the edge of the city and did not get the big sales like the in town dealer that is why I think that there is such a price variation. 5800.00 would be a good price on a 2000 Auto 500. Mine came with the 2000lb. Warn Winch.

I just bought a 99 ac500 It was $5300, but after Taxes and and the winch deal ( it was the warn 2000) it was $5660 out the door. I live in Shawano county Wisconsin where are taxes are 5.5%. I think if you do decide with the cat you wont be dissapointed. Good luck with what ever you choose.

Back in June I paid $6400 out the door with a "FREE"(promotion at the time) 2-year warranty, a pair of Ox-lite C.V. boot protectors, and a gun rack.
I think the reason there is so much price "variation" is because Arctic Cat varies there selling price to the dealers so much, My dealer says they sometimes call him up and ask if he wants so many bikes for a certaint discount price. I think they are haveing a hard time getting enough dealers for the number of quads they are making.

Thanks Boner-
The winch is $69. Nice deal.
The camo pak also has a rifle scabbard.
That looked kind of nice.
Does anyone know about the "special financing" offer?
I am convinced a 7 or 8 % rate for 36 months
would help any manufacturer sell a load
of quads. They all seem to have 12% for
6 months and 16% thereafter.

Guys,
Thanks for the info thus far. It appears the place to buy a CAT is WI. I lived up in the "Great White North" from 1983 - 1996. Now I am back in Iowa closer to family. I lived in South/Eastern WI and remember seeing the very first AC come out at the local snowmobile shop. It looked so huge for the time, no one else was making anything that big back then. I plan on buying my next ATV for farm use only, it will be have a non-taxable status, so I looking for a straight cash out price.
Our local AC dealer is also a Yamaha dealer so I am also consider trading the 98 Grizzly back for the 500 Auto. We'll have to see where we end up price wise after the trade is considered. I believe $5800-$5900 would be a good cash price. I am thinking trading my 98 Grizzly plus $1000 would be a fair/good place for me to work towards.
Thanks Allen L. Grooms
