CHARGING SYSTEM OUTPUT
#1
My wife has a 2002 375 and I would like to add more lights to the fairing for night driving.I have a 2001 500 and the extra light that I have added to mine is no problem. The lights are twin 55 watt fog lights so total 110 watts,,,but there may be other loads such as normal lights on low and a set of hand warmers and a thumb warmer.I do not want to burn the charging system out.So has anyone else put the extra lights or loads on the system.I found out the it is rated for 16 amps,,,the 500 is rated for 25 and the 300 is rated for 17.

I'm just breaking down the power usage on your bike. If you already know this just ignore me.
13.5 Volts(normal voltage out of my bikes regulator)
16 Amps X 13.5 Volts = 216 Watts This is about the max recommended output for your bike
216 W
- 70 W (two 35W head lights)
- 30 W (roughly for your thumb warmer and hand warmers)
- 5 W (tail light)
=111 W left over for accessories
Unless you have more power being drained out of your ATV other than what I have listed I think you'll be fine.
