You know I was thinking the same thing. I was wondering if insurance or an extended warrenty is better? My dealer says the extended warrenty only covers the engine and drivetrain. Hope that helps! But if anyone has any suggestions please reply! Thanks!

I ran into a problem with my ext warranty on my 02 Sportsman HO. The factory warranty covers most everything with no problem. To make a claim for the ext warranty, a local service rep has to come by and approve each and every repair. If your not running stock I think it would be better to save the cash for repairs. As far as insurance(my wife is a manager for Farmers Ins.) the damage has to be the result of an accident. You can't just make a claim for a spark plug wire or something. And, if you make more than 2 or 3 claims they will drop your coverage.

Wait! So if I buy the extended warrenty I have to get a sales rep to look at it first? Why can't I bring it to the dealer and just get it fixed?

No, when you take it to the dealer for repairs the dealer has to call the rep and have him come by and approve the repairs before the dealer can make them. I don't know if that's the case with the Arctic Cat ext war. or not. That's just what Polaris does. You might want to ask the dealer what's up with it before you buy it. I heard from a warranty manager for Yamaha that the Honda and Yamaha ext warranty's are still through the original manufacturer.
