cat axles

It seems to be more of a problem with the '02 and '03 machines. I really haven't heard of many problems with the older ones. Especially as of late...but if you notice that most of the problems have occured with lifted machines with big rubber and very aggressive riding.
I would like to know if AC used a different axle manufacturer on the later year machines??!!

Sound like the large models with irs have already maxed out the joint angle from the factory to get maximum ground clearence.Anyone had problems lifting the 250 or 300cc machines? These shafts are not angled very much from the factory.

I think the inner joint angle is at its max when stock. I rode a few times before adding the lift and didn't have any trouble. The first time I rode with the lift I busted the axle. I repaired it and went riding again and busted the other side. The lift is off now. Anybody want to buy one, its for sale, cheap.

The 300's don't have the steep angle but they too will bind with to much lift, I wouldn't go over 1 1/2" lift on them & you shpuld be all right, mines been good for 2000miles now with that much & no problems. You can take off the shock & turn your axles to see the max lift you can put on.
