Well with 251 miles on the 'Cat I took time to change the oil. I used Exxon Superflo 10w-30 synthetic and a NAPA Gold oil filter.(Both surpass AC reconmendations) After a short ride I think I can tell a diffrence in the way the big 'Cat shifts, It shifts without the jump that I was used to going from the low gears (1-2) to a much smoother shift like the gears (3-5)
Is the synthetic oil that much better???

I also use the Exxon Superflo synthetic and can tell a big dff. from the AC oil. I use the STP filter; SMO-18 is the model I think. I haven't had any engine problems from my CAT. The only thing that I don't like is the plastic rattles too much and the thing is very tippy where I ride.

I changed my the other day for the first time at 140 miles. I used the Arctic Cat oil simply because it's still under warranty. Also--the Arctic Cat 10-40 oil states its got some sort of additive made especially for the wet clutch of the automatic, which is what I have. Any one know if this is true or would top of the line synthetic be better?

After the warranty goes out you can use almost any motor oil that you choice. The oil does NOT efect the trans mission on an automatic cat.
