Default 500 running ruff

My uncle got a 500 new in 99 I think it ran fine for a year or so then the trouble started it will start and run for a while and then shut's itself down and wont satart back. it does this if you don't ride it every day in the summer when we pull squesh with it it does fine and gives us no problems but in the winter and fall and the spring it runs ruff. we have taken to the dealer numerus times they say that they cant figure it out. I was wondering what yall think of the problem is it a single case or has otheres had the problem to.

Ps I just rembired it also fails the plug vary bad like once a week you have to change the plug if you don't ride it every day thanks for any help

Sounds like its time for the carb to come off, be totally cleaned and reinstalled. Check for air leaks the works...

The fourwheeler stays out side all the time. The dealer told us that the gas could be geting condensation from the tank. Also how hard is it to take the carb apart or should we just take it back to another dealer

Well its up to you really. The dealer pr hr rate is prolly not cheap. If you have the Mikuni BST34 i can help somewhat. Its not hard at all. Might be the float, mine was way off after 5 years. After the float was adjusted is when it idled the best. If you were getting condensation in the tank, you would have been getting it all along, not just now i would guess.
