what do you have for a carb, stock 85 200x was a 108 main
how far is the head shaved? was it warped and just cleaned up to flatten it?
professional port and polish? if so, the company should have given you a idea of how much to jet up.
as a general rule you should go up 2-3 numbers for exhaust and filter(is the filter on the carb or in the stock air box?
I would just ride wide open for a little while, pull in the clutch and shut it off at the same time while wide open, keep the clutch in and stop. Then pull the plug and see what it looks like. As long as the engine is broke in and rings are seated so you're not pumpin' a little oil the plug should be tan, white is very bad!
dark is too rich.
there was a website that explains all this very well, i'll see if i can find it again. it hard to find a site with all the adjustment info for the keihin carbs with the pilot screw in the front. alot of them have the screw on the back side of the carb and the adjustments for those are just the opposite.
I'll see if I can find it and I post it under this thread.

if you need to get one of those oil plugs the HONDA part # is 12271-383-000. they cost $1.54 online at
www.powersportspro.com shipping is $7.99 though and it takes about 2 weeks to get parts from them.

it will take a little while for the new piston rings to seat.
how much ring gap did you have?
top and second ring should be between .008-.016"
oil ring rails should be between .012-.035"
these measurements are for a stock 200 honda

bigred , i see on one of yuor other posts that you didn't hone the cylinder when you rebuilt the top end, in that case your rings probably won't seat. i just assumed that the cylider was honed, guess i should have asked.
