350X Lighting question
#1
I noticed that behind the headlights there are two auxilary connections not being used. I looked in my factory service manual at the electrical schematic to see what these were. According to the schematic one connector is controlled by the headlight switch and the other one has juice going to it all the time. The service manual states that the stator output is 200W. The two headlights are max 36.5W each and the taillight is 5W to make it a total of 78 watts. With and output of 200W - 78W(used)= 122 watts leftover. Has anyone added an additional light to their system but still keeping the two original headlights? If so, how did it work for you? Thanks for any help given.

"Those are connections for a lighted speedo and I believe that Honda made some other items that could be hooked up. I know that I have seen the speedo, it has an ATC trademark on the face of it. "
Hey thanks for the info and now that you do mention the speedo I kinda of remember seeing one when the 350X came out. You wouldn't happen to know of or have seen one recently? It would be pretty trick to see that on a 350X.

I am pretty sure that the 200W is "peak" wattage at say 5000 rpm. I am sure at or newar idle the wattage is much lower. When I had my 350, I replaced my stock headlights with 2 8" 50w BAJA lights. They worked pretty darn good, but when it would idle down the lights would get much dimmer. So what I did was run a combo stock headlights and Baja lights but keeped the baja light wired only to my HIGH beams. So I had control over when to use them, and when I was just putting around or going slow, I could just run the LOW beams, and not worry about ruining my stater. It is possible however to put a Battery on the 350x so you can run lights and have a "buffer" for the stater.
