Default How much would you pay

I'm looking at an 85 250SX. It looks good but........
The kick starter won't engauge unless the engine is warmed up.
It's been sitting a while so the carberator is a little plugged up, but it starts and runs.
The electric start is supposed to work but there is no battery.
The tank has some rust holes

Over-all it looks pretty good and runs fairly descent once you get it going but it needs a little work.

What would be a descent price to offer for it??????

I paid $200 For a Good Running Big Red 250

- No Rear Plastic
-Spray Painted ft. Fender and Fuel Tank
-elec. Start not working
-No taillight
-smashed up tool box

so I got an ugly but highly usable trike for $200. now you need to figure this-

Cost of new Battery
Cost of new tank or tank repair
cost to fix kick start

to me, 5-600 would be a good point to start because you don't have to invest too much in cosmetics and very little in repairs

If you got it in that price range and fixed it cheap, I would say you would come out alright

I agree with replies, however, the only thing you really need to fix is the kickstart. My buddy has one and we beat the crap out of it (4 years or so of this extreme abuse). It also has no battery (it starts on the second kick even when cold). His tank also leaks, but a little 2part epoxy fixed that problem.

the trike is known as the "250 sx... With Reverse... The only thing that can be wrong with it, is that its out of gas".

The guy has had it in his barn and it hasn't been riden in a couple years. I played around with it this weekend. The kick starter will work but you have to finess it back and forth until it engages. Once it starts (which it does pretty easily) and warms up, the kick starter works fine. The thing is pretty fast except it starts sputtering at the higher RPM's. I guess sitting for 2 years will do that to the carb. There is one small pin hole from rust but I think JB Weld will fix it. It can use a few parts, but overall it runs pretty good. Reverse is sweet.
I'm thinking about $600. He wants to fix it up and get more out of it, but he doesn't have the time or ambition. That's why it got into this shape in the first place.

The battery in it is shot, but I hooked a charger up to it and it turned over. A new battery and it should be fine, but they are way more than a normal battery for some reason. I think I will offer him $500 for it. He could probably get more if he knew where to advertise and put a little time into it.
