Which Honda ATC does a Keihin PD85C go on?
I am trying to help a buddy get his three wheeler running better. I have searched the topics and read several threads but haven't found exactly what I am looking for. Does anyone know which three wheeler a Keihin PD85C goes on? My friend's machine is supposed to be an 85 Honda ATC200X with an 85 200s motor. We aren't sure which carb kit to buy though. Does anyone have the Clymer manuals for a 200x and a 200s and feel like checking the carburetor section for me? I have a manual for my BigRed that shows the PDxx designation for the models the manual covers. I hope to find out which machine this carb should go on and buy the correct carb kit for it. Also could anyone provide the initial settings for the pilot screw and clip position on the needle for this carb? Here's one more dumb question. I read in the Clymer manual I have that the e-clip should be in either the second or third notch(depending on application). But they don't say whether this is from the top of the needle or bottom (sharp end). Which end is baseline? Thanks in advance for any help. Sorry to post another stupid carb question topic. Regards, Jens
Incidentally, if anyone wants to venture a guess as to why this thing won't idle with the choke off but runs ok with the choke half on and fully on can throw some suggestions out there. We rebuilt it with a 200s kit about a year ago and didn't have any luck. Could the float setting be off and affect idle? That's one thing we didn't check when rebuilding it last year. Other than that we have tried a ton of combinations of settings. We are dumbfounded. The next step for us is cleaning the air filter, soaking the carb in cleaner for a day and doing another rebuild with hopefully the right kit this time. Thanks again. According to the Clymer repair manual. The carb is from an 1984 ATC200S. The main jet is 100. The Initial pilot is 2 1/4 turns out. The needle jet position is the 3rd groove. Float level should be .49 of an inch. The clip position is the end of the needle jet that isn't sharp according to the Clymer boook. Good Luck.

I agree except for my book said the float is at .55 in. The center notch on the needle is the standard setting, move the clip up(dull end) to lean it out, and move the clip down to richen it up.
