I have oil leaking out under my pull start housing would thicker oil help or is there somethin else i should do

 

Is there a crack under the pullstart housing or did u just see oil coming off of it. Is there a seal inside the housing? I have a 82 185s and it seems like the pull start is all ways giving us problems.

 

Probably shaft seal leaking. I think the shaft extends through the casing into the starter housing. A leaking seal permits oil to enter the starter housing, leaking down the case side and out from the edge of the starter housing where it joins the case cover.
