what is the difference between a 1985 and 1986 350X?

i dont know for shure but i think that the plastic was different color, and maby different handle bars, and i've heard something about a different rear bearing carrier. dont quote me on this because this is jsut what i've heard, i'm not shure about anything.

call me crazy, but I think the 1985 is one year older then the 1986.....but thats just me talkin...

I dont think there really is a diffrience, its like cars, they come out w/ the new model , like the 02, then the 03, and claim its better? I'll look it up, give me some time, and I'll come up w/ an answer.

There are alot of differences:

Color, clutch cable routing, cam chain tensioners, front calipers, '86 had helmet holder, seat logo, steering bearings, bearing carriers, rims, top tripple clamp on a '86 is black, dial on the rear rezzy... one year is gold, one is black, oil pump pickup in the motor is better in '86 so it oils better on offcamber riding, different handlebar bend, larger tool box in '86, grab bar is solidly mounted to the frame, kick start gear ratio different, rear brake stays... '85 has a linkage, '86 has a pin on the swing arm, therefor swing arms are different, front disk. And now I've heard that the flywheels and stators are different from a discussion on 3ww.

It's been like 15 years or longer BUTTT don't the 85's only have 5 gears and 86 have 6gears


could be wrong anyone know for sure

nope, my 85 has 6 gears
