Riding to the max on a 3wheeler
#21
I would think your a little crazy if you bought a "25r" also. I think the 250R would be more to your liking. I would start out with adleast the 330R kit to leave your banshee friends by a wide margin. Try to get one with an extended axle...and swingarm!...or buy one with these. (alot more stibility) Have you ever rode a 3 wheeler? Agressively? What do you own now?
The ATC 250R has a fairly good power advantage, but this can be evened right out with pipes on the banshee (let alone other mods) So you will want to modify your ATC also. Dont just think it will beat everything stock...unless there stock. Its a good base to start..Like I said 310R,330R,350R,400R..The 310 kit is cheap (under 1000) If they are giving you a hard time, install a big bore kit so there is no chance for them.

Someetimes my typing could use some help. I meant ATC 250 R!!! But I may stiil look at a ATC 25 R, I hear they are pretty quick as well.. My current ride is a 85 LT 250 R, when it runs, runs great, just not real reliable. I only have limited experience on 3 wheeelers, rode the Atc 70, 110, and 125 back in the day. Lately I did have the chance to ride someones 85 Tecate 3(I should have bought it, but I hooked a brotha up!) Then I nearly flipped it backwards from so much power. I barely gassed it over this bump, then whoa here comes the front end, QUICK! He did get a 4 inch extended swingarm for it, BIG difference. Oh yea, he was spanking Banshees left and right at the dunes. Actually he was getting frustrated cause after 'bout 5 races, everybody was scared!
Have a great New Year...

No doubt the Tecate is way fast, I have an '86 and it just has reeds, pipe/silencer, and a carb (as far as I know it's unported) and it is faster than an 85/86 Honda 250r with the same mods. It just sucks having 5 speeds instead of 6 so I just run a big front sprocket and hello top end machine. I raced a Banshee with FMF pipes/silencers, carbs, reeds, and it was geared more for top end like me and he couldn't shake me on a 3-4 mile stretch of paved road we took back to the campsite. Just wait till I up the front sprocket a little more and drop the back down by 4 teeth for top end cruising on a frozen lake we ride around here. Can you say triple digits!!!

I RIDE TO THE MAX ON MY 84 250R, OF COURSE THE BIKE IS TO ITS MAX ALSO ITS AN AIR COOLED MOTOR BORED 80 OVER, DG PIPE AND SILENCER, BIGGER FRONT SPROCKET, 34MM MIKUNI CARB WITH DIAL'A'JET AND U.F.O.(ULTIMATE FLOW OPTIMIZER), AND BOYSEN REEDS. THIS TRIKE HAS NO PROBLEM LEAVING MY FRIEND AND HIS 85 250R IN MY DUST ALONG WITH MANY BANSEES I HAVE RACED. JUST STUDDED A SET OF TIRES FOR IT TO RUN ON THE LAKE, GOING TO GET OUT THE RADAR GUN AND SEE WHAT IT WILL DO LAST YEAR IT RAN 82 MPH. LOOKING FOR AN EXTENDED SWINGARM FOR IT IF ANYONE HAS ONE.

Well, I've got an old '84 Suzuki 125 that needs some work but man was it fun when it was in good shape. It's nothing like what you guys ride but it was still fun.It would go fairly fast in fourth (at least 30 mph) and I still had another gear to go but I never found the true top speed. I hope to get it fixed soon and maybe get it bored out and raise the plastic some to make it look a little more appealing. What's the deal with people saying trikes are illegal?

Let them think what they want...If everyone thinks they're legal, we won't have a steady supply of cheap fixer uppers and parts bikes. Personally, I enjoy the fear of the general public. You can still get a good 250R for $700 if you look hard enough. My buddy just bought one that needed axel bearings for $700...big deal.. for $30 and 2 hrs of labor he has a nearly stock bike in great condition. Plus, I enjoy people's reactions...everyone thinks that my group of friends are crazy because we all have 2+ bikes each...AWSOME!!
