replace the fork boots?

well, they're shot. i do alot of riding in muddy and dusty conditions, so i'm thinking about fixin them before it kills the seals. now i need to know how this is done on a 200s. i'm assuming that the forks can be dropped down after i take out the 4 bolts that look like they are clamping them in. it seems like it would be a easy job, but looks can be deciving. how much should a set of boots run me? is it worth the hassle? anything that i'm not thinking about?

it is as easy as it sounds, you may have to spread the tripple tree clamps a little to get your shocks loose though. After taking out the pinch bolts I had to use 4 screwdrivers wedged in the clamps and the forks pulled right out. In my opinion anything around $30 is fair, and I do think they are worth the hastle.

Just find you some old Rancho shock boots, I found a pair of blue ones just laying around the house and they fit perfect. Removing the forks is really simple, no worries. Just something to think about, the Rancho boots look like O.E.

i dont need any parts other than the fork boots. my trike is in excelent condition. are the caps on the forks threaded or pressed in? if they are pressed in then i will run into some serious problems when the fork seals do go and i loose all the fluid. i'm going to have alittle extra money so i might jsut pick up a set of boots, but i do kindof want to start saving to get a 400EX. i could use an EX right now, but i'm not going to have the money for a while..unless i get a better payn job.

The caps are held in by small retainer clips. Youll see how they come out if you take the forks off. to get the caps out just push down on the cap and use a small screw driver to pop the clip out.
