need help with 1984 200x carb
#1
When I turn the peacock to the on position, and the bike's running it starts to flood really bad. Gas comes out everywhere.
I have taken the carb apart and it looks like the floater works....i may be wrong. How can I test it??? Could something be stuck somewhere in the carb causing my headaches???
Thanks in advance

My first impression is; the float had to be stuck.
Make sure the float pivots freely
Did the float have any fuel in it when you took it apart?
Make sure the float needle does not hang up in the boar
Is this a recent purchase on the trike, or have you owned it awhile, and it just started doing this?

I just bought it from a friend that hasn't rode it in like 6 months. It ran great back then.
I looked like the float didn't have gas in it.
So you think that the float needle might be the problem.....I'll take it apart again and look it over one more time. This is my first bike so I'm still new at this.....
Thanks for the help

Is your fuel tank rusty? Check for small particulate matter in your gas. I've seen people replace mondo carb parts only to find out the problem was the fuel was continually sending contamination between the needle and the seat. You can test your float by simply throwing it in a pan of water to see if it will (float that is). Also if you start out with an empty carb (as in you just cleaned it), sometimes it's necessary to tap on the carb side lightly while it's filling up with gas. When empty, the float bottems out and can bind the needle in the seat. A little tapping is usually enough to break it loose so it can shut off. Careful tho, carb material is pot metal and breaks easily.

I had the same problem, turned out the seat thingy the needle went in to was dirty.
Easy fix, just take some valve grinding compund, put it on a q-tip stick it in a drill and go for it.
Did the trick on mine.
