20" Tires on 350x
I have put 20" turf tamers on my 350x and its gained a lot more top end than i had with my bald 18" holeshots. I was wondering if i had 22" tires would my top end increase a lot or just a little? Can i just go up a tooth on my front sprocket to make up the difference? Thx.

22" tires will make a huge difference (8+mph or so). But if ground clearence does not matter to you that just play with the gearing. Gearing is usually a ton cheaper than new tires, unless you go with top of the line gearing and chain. I am in the process of playing with gearing on my 200x. I buy the cheap chain ($15) cheap rear sprocket ($12) and a cheap front sprocket ($12). Then when I find the combo I like then I may spend the $150 for a real good set.

I was questioning myself on the speed so I did a little checking...here is what I came up with
IF IF IF..... at this time with 20" tires...you go 70mph at 6000rpm.......if you were to switch to 22"
At the same rpm and gearing you would go 77.15 mph with the tire change....it makes a pretty good improvement (and I was close when I said 8 mph )

20" Tires on 350x
When I first got my 85 350X it was cherry and completely stock with the 22in. tires which probably grew to 24in at top speed. Man was that thing fast on top end, but didnt handle very well with those tires. From what I have found a stock 350X(stock tires, brakes that dont drag, good bearings, good running engine etc. etc. ) should run 70-71mph. I did not have a GPS when I had mine stock. Then I put on 20 in. Holeshots. and got a GPS along the way. It ran 65mph with the 20 in. tires. I wanted my top speed back so I put a 14T sprocket. Then I got 69mph on the GPS. Now I am running the 14T with a 37T rear. I am getting 71-72 mph. All testing was done on a flat country road(asphault). Dropping 3 teeth in the rear is approx. the same as adding 1 tooth in the front. Hope this info. helps.
