Default loose cam chain

one can never completely get away from trikes.i own a 1982 honda atc110.the cam chain has been adjusted as far as it can go.
the trike works reallly well but the cam chain really rattles.i know if i drive it this way much longer, major problems will arise.
wouls anyone know the price of replacing the cam chain or is a complete overhaul of the motor the best way to go?
Also,if anyone has a good website for ordering engine overhaul parts would be appreciated.

thank you and keep up the good info on ths forum!!

Default loose cam chain

You can replace the chain without tearing down the whole engine. You have to remove the stuff that covers the cam so you can take off the cam spocket and if you go ahead and slide the cam out it will give you more room. Just remember that when you reinstall the cam to do it with the crank at TDC and install the cam with the lobes facing the back of the engine. you will also have to remove the pull start, mag, and mag housing to expose the gear on the crank where the chain rides. It also drives you oil pump, so, if the oil pump gear or crank gear looks worn it will be to your advantage to replace them now. The hardest part about replacing the chain without tearing the engine down is being able to reinstall the guide that is in between the cam and crank.
