This post confuses me.....There are pics of TRX tanks on it, maier doesn't make tanks etc. I would do this....if your tank is faded, you can wet sand it with FINE sandpaper to remove the white coating. I haven't had to do it to my bikes, but have friends that have done it. The tanks came out nice. It works. Make sure you use fine sand paper so you don't scratch your tank to death.

IMS is the only aftermarket tank maker that I know of. And they only make oversized tanks. I have one on the shelf. I think it's a 4 gallon tank. Ebay is your best option to find a used tank in nice shape. I've seen them go for $20.

I got a $20 tank off of ebay for my 86 R, it was in better shape than my old tank and came with better scoops than what I had. A little elbow grease, sandpaper(wet sand) then some of this Stuff on a buffing machine and that junk tank that smelled like diesel fuel [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img] from ebay looked better than I could have possibly imagined.

btw- Dennis kirk has those IMS tanks in stock for your 85, $229, white, 4 gal with cap.

if it was me, i wouldnt screw around with an IMS tank, they look goofy on the 3 wheelers I think, i would just win this auction and be done

 

Go to JLatv products. I just got a plastic tank for my ATC 250SX and it fits great. I think it was $120. They always have an add in Dirt Wheels.

 

I went to jlatv products but they did not carry a tank for the 1985 atc 250r. I am having a lot of trouble finding this stupid tank.
