Default Using proper torque specs??

Lets say you use a regular socket to tighten your head bolts and u make it so that it seems tight enough to you...well thats what my buddy does..he doesnt use a torque wrench or nothing.....i offered him to use mine but he said no thanks...what damage could result from not using the torque wrench and proper specs...not jus applying to the head..but other parts also??

you could pull the treads out of the aluminum housings, snap off bolts, ect.........but on the head the purpose of the torque is to have the same on all the studs for a even crush of the head gasket. I use the $240 digital Snap-On 3/8 drive torque wrench(but I get to write it off on taxes for my work)
