Default 84 250r questions

Right now I'm running a cylinder bored .20 over, K&N, DG exhaust, and Reed spacer. I have a larger carb and another cylinder bored .80 over sitting on the shelf. I run 89 octane (highest I can get in Montana) with honda synthetic 2 stroke oil and 10w30 synthetic below.

Is there a way to modify the stock air box to allow more air in but not let water in. I took off the cover the other day and there was a dramatic improvement after I adjusted the needle. Then I put the cover back on and it was way to rich. So is there a way to snorkle it out the side? I've heard of people putting slits in the cover and using foam to try and keep water out but they don't seem to work.

Also does a reed spacer really help anything?

Are there any other mods I could do to get more ponys out of her. I want to get as much out of her as I can without reducing relibilty to much. I mostly trail ride in the high moutains of Montana, but grew up on the dunes and try to make a trip or two every year to St. Anthony's dunes in Idaho. I want to be able to kick some shee a$$ but still be able to cruise around on mountain trails. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
