HELP..Building a 350x for Glamis.
#1
I've got a bone stock 350x and want to set it up for the dunes. I'm moving to Phoenix in December. I know how to build the engine. FYI, When I am finished it will have @ 40hp on tap. My questions are: 1. How long can I lengthen the swing-arm without it becoming a drag/hillshooter only bike? I still want it to handle and be able to catch some air but I want some length to keep the front wheel on the ground due to the additional 15hp. 2. Who can I send the forks to to have them rebuilt/upgraded. Does anybody specialize in these type of mods for 3wheelers? Thanks in advance.

I am not sure about how long you can extend the swingarm before it effects handling. I have seen one done 1 inch and another done 2 inches. I don't really know how it effected them.

They rebuild forks and shocks for motorcycles and ATVs. I talked to George Quay(owner) about four years ago about a shock rebuild and he was very nice and eager for your business. That is one reason I recommend him. I wish I could brag about their work but I never used them(I found a shock for mine instead of rebuilding.) I am sure they do fine work. Good luck!

Cool another 350X on the board. Lets see... on mine I have a supertrapp slipon rejetted with K&N filter with outerware. Paddle tires for the rear. Twist throttle. I would only extend the swing arm 4". Any longer than 4 and it will only want to go straight. Shorter it will wheelie over on you. Any good shop can handle rebuilding the front forks. Do Not raise the forks in the clamps for draggin up the hills... You'll hit your front tire on the lower clamp as well as the fender. When you get here give me an email and maybe we can hook up for a ride in the dunes.

D.P.858,
Have you done any engine work? How does your engine perform on the big hills? How does it perform next to a stock 400ex? Last question, If you had a stock 350x and $2000 in your pocket for engine mods, what would you do? Thanks in advance

TRX440 I'm rebuilding the whole motor right now. I will not be adding anything other than a high compression piston. The 350 will make it up any of the big hills as long as you have paddles. The 350 will be pretty much even with a 400ex unless it's modified. With 2k in my pocket for mods I would add a cam, piston, new valve springs and valves, flow the head, and maybe bore it out to maybe a 400. Unless you plan on draggin all day long I wouldn't do too much to the motor. It's a good duning wheeler as is.
