Tecate
#2
I know the quad was faster than the trx250R wich is slower than the banshee, but not by much. And I know the atc250R was faster than the trx, so maybe the tecate atc250R and Banshee are about the same, just a thought though.

The 86/87 Tecate-3 was indeed the fastest 250 made. I hear from lots of guys at another board that they smoke modified Banshees on their stock Tecates. It was faster in a drag race than the ATC250R as well. They are quite the mean one.

I own both an '85 250r and an '86 Tecate. Even though the Honda has alot more work done to it it is not that much more powerful that the Tecate but it is alot more comfortable to ride. The Tecate can quite top end with the 250r or Banshee because it only has five gears to their six. But, if you re-gear it it will smoke them. Last summer we were down in south New Jersey riding some fire roads, I raced a brand new stock Banshee with my Tecate (DG pipe, silencer, compression raised, geared for more top end, and reeds). I crushed him right from off the line and just kept pulling away right through top speed, the guy couldn't believe the MPH I got out of that old trike.

Wrong...the 86 Tecate is one of the fastest bikes out there. The 86 had been improved greatly over the 85....in every area. Still vibrates too much for me, but it's fast.
85 ATC250R .120 over pro-lite, ported, boyessens, 39 PWK, DG pipe, reed spacer, shaved and decked.
86 ATC250R .050 over Pro-X, PVL digital ignition, 89 pro-series "long rod" with a spacer plate, FTZ port and polish, dyno head, rad valve w/ carbon fiber, Paul turner hi-rev, etc, etc all on alcohol.
97 900RR...bone stock. Afraid to do more.
