1985 200x engine mods?

I hate to say it but the best mod for a 200x if you need more power is to replace it with a 350x.
The money you will spend hopping up your 200x will be much more than the amount you would need to buy a nice 350x after selling your stock 200x.
I love my 200x because it is a 200x and when I need to go faster I ride my 250r.

I got the part #'s off of powersportspro.com and the ordered a new one from worldofpowersports.com because they were cheaper and ship faster. It was about $26(without the carb mount studs.
Honda part numbers for '86-93 xr200r
16210-KT0-000 INSULATOR 28.99 intake
91302-200-000 O-RING (33.5X3) 4.99 oring between head and intake
92712-06028-0B BOLT, STUD (6X28) 0.99 each carb mount studs
you could use the studs and oring off of your original 200x intake if you wish.

I use a clamp on K&N that I ran back behind the shock using a preformed radiator hose and pvc pipe splice but I may have to rig something else up using the stock air box since this was the first winter riding it in the snow and the snow got under the outer wear. It ran fine while I was riding but I loaded it in the truck and drove home and the next day the throttle was stuck. Thinking at first it was the cable being froze due to wet snow, but no it was the condensation from the snow getting under the prefilter and the ride home in the bac of my truck froze the carb slide! LOTS OF ICE IN THE CARB IS BAD!
I'm not sure if you can use the stock tube from the air box and connect it to the XR carb, the inlet side of the XR carb is bigger maybe but I'm not sure since I haven't found time to mess with it yet.
In a couple days maybe I'll have some better info.

Did a quick check today and the stock 200x boot that goes from the carb to the stock box is way too small to fit on the back of the xr carb, also looked at the microfish pics of the stock xr boot and box and you would have to do some major fabrication to make that work.
More to come(maybe by the weekend)
